"Making more of life"
Registered Charity No. 250837

About Our Charity

In 2001 Age Concern Leicestershire and Rutland celebrated its fiftieth year.
From its humble beginning the charity has developed into the largest organisation within the
Age Concern Federation.

Every effort is made to respond to the needs of people from the time they retire through to the latter stages of their life. The services provided enable people to move through the different phases of old age with dignity, and the confidence that Age Concern will care for them should the need arise.

So much of what has been achieved over the years is due to a committed workforce and a dedicated group of 750 volunteers.
Their help and the help of others will be greatly needed in the future.
With an ever- increasing older population the challenges facing Age Concern Leicestershire and Rutland are enormous. Increased numbers of older people are requiring more intensive support in order to remain living within their own local community rather than having to enter residential or nursing care.

This is at a time when resources are scarce. Fewer people are offering their services to Age Concern or other organisations on a voluntary basis.
The competition for grant aid is now so great there is little money available for innovation and new areas of work.

This is where you can help

Would you like to put something back into your local community by contributing some of your time to assisting Age Concern Leicestershire and Rutland in its work with older people?

You can choose the areas that are of interest to you and that will give you the most satisfaction; for example, being a neighbourhood care visitor, working in Age Concern's Information and Advice Department, assisting with basic reception and office duties, helping out in a day centre, a charity shop or working as a fundraiser.

You may wish to financially support the work of Age Concern Leicestershire and Rutland by making a one-off contribution. You may alternatively prefer to be a regular donor by signing up for the Gift Aid scheme.

You may also wish to leave a legacy to Age Concern by bequesting to the charity in your Will. The money donated will greatly enhance the quality of life for many older people both now and in the future.

Finally if the need should arise when you, your family or friends need assistance do not hesitate to contact the charity. You have my assurance we will do whatever we can to help.
